Der Stein wurde vom Mittelalter datiert und entspricht einer alten Grabstätte auf einem Tumulus (500 Jahre vor Christus - spätt Hallstatt ). Es ist das älteste verbliebene keltische Denkmal unserer Region.
Auf seiner Ostseite wurde ein hakenförmiger Monolith (Symbol der Gemeinde Altorf) eingeprägt. Außerdem wird das Datum 1781 genannt, das das Jahr der Überprüfung der Gemeindegrenzen sein könnte.
