These limestone hills are in fact a string of islets, going North to South and stuck between the plains and the Vosgian Massif. The soil here is very permeable, making these patches of land quite dry. The sunlight, the slopes, the favorable exposure and the medium altitude bring a warm climate to the hills.
According to season and places, you will not make the same discoveries: hawthorn, cornelian cherries, privet, berberis and sage grow here, sharing the space with larks, kestrels, magpies and lizards. You may also sometimes spot roe deer or badger tracks.
