The Mainzer Domchor, the boys' choir of Mainz Cathedral (Germany), presents a concert of sacred music a cappella and with organ. Founded in 1866, the ensemble provides musical services for the cathedral and performs regularly in Germany and abroad. The program spans several centuries of sacred music: from the Renaissance, with Orlando di Lasso, through Schütz, Mendelssohn and Duruflé, to contemporary compositions by Rosephanye Powell and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi. The soprano and alto parts are sung by young boys who have not yet molted, offering the characteristic sound of this centuries-old choral tradition. Works by Bach will also be heard on the Silbermann organ. Since 2012, the choir has been directed by Karsten Storck, choirmaster of Mainz Cathedral.
