Tour du fort de Mutzig

1h 16,68 Km 199 m Intermediate

Description

You’ll start from the parking lot on Rue des Sports in Molsheim for a gentle warm-up. You’ll head up toward Fort de Mutzig. Fort de Mutzig is one-of-a-kind in Alsace, located 1 hour from Strasbourg. It’s an absolutely incredible architectural, engineering, and military site. Perched on the heights of Dinsheim-sur-Bruche, it offers a panoramic view of the Bruche Valley. The largest and most powerful fortification in Europe in 1914—designed for both offensive and defensive purposes—is now a symbol of peace and Franco-German reconciliation. Be sure to explore its underground tunnels, which stretch for kilometers. This is a must-see stop, as this panoramic view is only accessible as part of a tour of the fort. Finally, you’ll make a leisurely descent through the vineyards, passing through the villages of Dangolsheim and Soultz-les-Bains, before returning to the starting point. An ideal route for a half-day ride, suitable for all types of cyclists, even those on e-bikes!
