Concert performed by the vocal ensemble EXULTATE
This choir, recently formed in our region, is a vocal octet that focuses on sacred polyphony from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Pierluigi da Palestrina, Giovanni Croce, Hans Leo Hassler, and Alessandro Scarlatti, among others, are the greatest composers in this genre. Their measured compositions highlight multiple voices that respond to or overlap with one another, generally without instrumental accompaniment, but always inspired by the religious music of Western culture.
