Le Secret du Bouvier: A tale in shadows and music about the invention of letters
In the beginning, there was a herdsman, his cows and his daughter. Originally, there was no such thing as writing. How could they solve the riddles of a tyrannical king and escape his cruelty? How to transmit and preserve his secrets? Following in the footsteps of this herdsman, who lived long ago in a faraway Eastern country, you'll discover the birth and evolution of the drawings that make up our language today, as well as the media that gave birth to books.
This show, presented by Les Passeurs de Mondes, is a visual adventure, with shadow illustrations and color play, to take you to the heart of the road of letters. But like all adventures, it's not without its dangers... dare you follow us?
The drawings, created and animated by Sylvie Arnal, will come to life before your very eyes, accompanying the story and adding a poetic touch.
The music, composed and performed by Kalevi Uibo, follows the course of tales and history. It weaves a thread between the birth and evolution of writing, in a dreamlike journey through the evolution of instruments, with sounds that are as strange as they are familiar, and always spellbinding. Beginning with prehistoric instruments such as sound stones, calls and harmonic flutes, the music moves on to primitive stringed instruments, then to more refined instruments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, such as lutes, citoles and guitars, to end with the modern acoustic guitar we all know, taking the spectator right to the heart of the story.
