Fauré's Requiem on tour: 80 choristers unite around the organ Spring 2026 in Alsace will be marked by a major musical collaboration. The INTERLUDE vocal ensemble from Haguenau (formerly the teachers' choir) and the CHOEUR DES 4 SAISONS from Strasbourg Robertsau are joining forces for a tour of five exceptional concerts dedicated to Gabriel Fauré. Fauré's Requiem has often been presented as a soothing vision of death, the composer himself describing his work as a "lullaby of death". If this work favors an edifying gentleness and humanity, its architecture, highly original for its time, far from the fracas of a Verdi or a Berlioz, nevertheless reveals a combination of tensions and striking contrasts. Worry, doubt and anger are also skilfully strewn along the path of this work before the final appeasement! Choral conductor Damien Schubert hopes for a reading that rejects excessive smoothness. By exploring the deep contrasts of the score, he invites the choristers to share the emotion and the rare opportunity to sing the beauty of this composition. It's not every day you get to conduct a masterpiece! The program will be completed by other emblematic pieces by Fauré, such as Ave verum corpus, Pavane and Madrigal. The ensemble will be supported on the organ by Roselyne Koeniguer's attentive playing and Jean Moissonnier's full, deep baritone voice.
