Located 8 km from Molsheim, the former Sonntag tile factory in Still bears witness to the earthen activity present in the region since the Romans.
Originally communal, it was operated by the Sonntag family from 1800 to 1962. When it closed, the production equipment from the 1930s remained on site.
The tour takes visitors on a tour of the factory.
The tour takes in the 4 stages of brickmaking: clay extraction in the quarry, shaping, drying and firing in the kiln. Still's Hoffmann kiln is one of the last vestiges of the industrial revolution that affected the clay-working sector in the 19th century.
