This summer, the Mutzig Historical Museum invites you to explore the special exhibition “The Perfect Body? The Repaired, Remodeled, and Augmented Human,” created by La Nef des Sciences.
Did Neolithic humans already know how to trepanate the skulls of their peers to treat them? Is an artificial larynx for humans a reality? What does it mean to be an “augmented” human today? Have you heard of transhumanism?
"The Perfect Body? Man Repaired, Remodeled, Augmented" presents—in an original format and from "every angle"—human interventions on the body for the purposes of repair or enhancement. From the ancient Neolithic era to the present day, human beings have always sought to improve their health, well-being, and quality of life. Designed in a “comic book” style, the exhibition reveals what medicine and medical research have made possible, are making possible, and promise to achieve in repairing the body.
Interactive exhibits are on display:
- The Body Under Construction: An operating table where all kinds of repairs are possible on a human body, thanks to prosthetics and implants loaned by French laboratories.
- What will the augmented human of tomorrow look like? : Through magnetic displays of futuristic objects such as a sound-amplifying helmet, an extra thumb, webbed feet, self-cleaning clothing, and shoes that adapt to the environment, visitors can imagine the augmented human of tomorrow.
Learning while having fun is possible!
Exhibition open during museum hours.
