Discover the former Benedictine abbey: how it operated, its scale, and its ties to the local residents.
Founded in 974 by Hugh III of Nordgau, Count of Eguisheim and feudal lord of the region, the abbey exerted a decisive influence on village life. For more than 800 years, until its dissolution in 1791, the residents lived in step with this institution, which shaped local history.
The Abbey Church of Saint-Cyriaque, the abbot’s residence, the tithe barn, and several other ruins still bear witness to that era today.
